Traveling with your Divevolk housing
The size and lightness of the Divevolk housing makes it an easy travel companion. Read the tips below to protect it during your adventures!
Always use the protective insert!
This is the number one rule for protecting your housing. The gel membrane allows you to use your touch screen underwater, but it is also the most delicate part of the housing. Each housing comes with a protective insert - the inner support block for when your housing is not in use. Always always keep this insert in the housing when traveling or when storing it between trips! You should also keep this support block in your housing if you are doing a test dive without your phone. Simply put if your phone isnt in the housing, the inner support block must be!
Its extra important if you are packing your housing in a suitcase or backpack, where pressure will be applied. Too many housings are damaged this way. Don’t let it happen to you!
Get a Case and/or a Protective bag
The Divevolk EVA case is a protective case designed to hold your housing and a few accessories (such as filters). It will help keep your housing safe while being stored between trips, but more importantly, while being jostled around during your travels. With the case, you can pack your housing in a checked bag, although we do recommend a hardshell suitcase and don’t pack it near anything pointy!

Its important to also protect the gel membrane on the way to the dive and the Divevolk protective bag is suited for just that. It slips around your housing and protects the membrane from damage. This is useful not just for transporting your housing, but also protecting your housing before, during, and after diving. If this is your only protection, we highly recommend traveling with your housing in a backpack or carry-on.

Take extra special care with your lenses to prevent scratches. We always recommend carrying these in cases and in your carry-on luggage. Check out the Moment Weatherproof Mobile Lens Carrying case, available in Large and Small.
Use a Towel
Even if you have the Divewolk protective bag, when traveling wrap your housing in a microfibre towel. This will keep it extra safe from any damage, in particular scratches and punctures of the membrane. Its also useful as a protective covering between dives, and, when the day is done, use it to dry the housing so you can remove your phone quicker!
If you have the Divevolk EVA case, there’s no need to wrap the case in a towel, but we recommend bringing a towel anyway to wrap your housing in between dives (leave the case in the car / the hotel room!).

Keep the housing open while flying
The pressure in the airplane will change slightly while flying, so its best to travel with the door of the housing slightly open. But keep the protective insert in!
Give it a good soak
Salt is corrosive, and if left on your housing (or any accessories) for extended periods of time can damage it.
After you’ve returned from your holiday, or if you don’t expect to be diving for some time, soak your Divevolk housing (with the door sealed) and accessories in fresh water for at least 30 minutes (a sink or a bathtub is perfect). Occasionally wiggle any clips or clamp screws to dislodge any trapped salt. Think of this as a “deep clean” to ensure its free of any ocean salt!
After removing from the water, remember to dry all lenses with a microfibre cloth to prevent any water spots.
Following these simple steps will extend the life of your housing and ensure that you are ready for whatever you encounter on your travels.
