Apple's latest lineup of iPhones has just been announced — the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Air and iPhone 17 Pro — with significant improvements over previous models.

smartphone ip68 rating

IP68 Waterproof Rating

For the new phone models Apple have cited a waterproof rating of IP68 meaning that the phone is dustproof and protected against water immersion for a limited time at limited depth.

For those wary of putting a brand new phone into a dive housing this rating suggests that if you do get some water inside your housing your phone will likely be okay.

That being said, we always suggest that you get third party insurance for your phone and always back it up just in case!
